Whether it's the rituals on game day or the pageantry of commencement, memorable traditions draw students and alumni back to campus each year. These customs, both academic and social, weave throughout every aspect of the college experience and establish a powerful sense of community. Participants will better understand how to support students as they acclimate to this community and navigate residential life.

Workshop Summary: The workshop centers around a unique card game that helps deepen empathy for students. It effectively simulates the feelings of uneasiness that those who are new to campus, or new to a particular housing arrangement, might confront without adequate guidance. In the process, it heightens awareness of the cultural conflicts that can arise when people with diverse experiences and backgrounds interact.

Timing: Mike typically conducts trainings in the weeks leading up to the start of the year. 

Participants: His workshops are appropriate for resident assistants, orientation leaders, tour guides, and any other student staff members working with current or prospective students. Mike also conducts workshops for departments, faculty, and staff.
