Schools
From kindergarten to college, students transition annually to classrooms with unique routines and educators with different instructional styles.
Mike's training sessions focus on helping all students develop a deep sense of belonging. Participants will better understand their role in supporting students as they acclimate to unfamiliar settings, new classrooms, different teachers, and varied curricula.
Timing: Mike typically conducts trainings during the weeks leading up to the start of your academic year. However, his workshops are equally valuable during staff meetings that precede the start of a new semester.
Participants: He offers workshops for your entire faculty, specific departments or for student leaders (such as resident advisors) as part of their training. His workshops are suitable for public and private schools at any level.
Content: As participants processes the activities, Mike can focus discussion on any combination of the following:
Clearly communicating routines, procedures, rules, and expectations
Establishing rapport with new students
Increasing cultural competency
Fostering community
Preventing bullying
Developing and articulating a shared sense of mission and focus
Learning team-building exercises
Proactively addressing concerns
